“My pronouns are he/him.” “My pronouns are she/her.” “My pronouns are they/them.” At this point, I’m sure you have seen Twitter bios or have been introduced to someone who promptly tells you their pronouns. Or maybe your work requests you put your pronouns in your signature for your emails. This is a very new trend for individuals and businesses to take to announce pronouns to the world.
Yup, it's an abusive technique. I wrote an article about how the "preferred pronouns" and how it is about responsibility shifting. They shift the responsibility for them feeling "comfortable" onto everyone else so they are never personally responsible for their emotions.
Amazingly logical and succinct writing - thank you for expressing what a majority of Americans have known and felt for a long time, but get shamed into - being quiet.
You summarized it well when you wrote that professionally, a counselor has to speak out against evil.
I'm a master's mental health grad student and understand the institutional shaming process that infers we all have to avoid rocking this gender dysphoria cancer that is quietly spreading through our society, especially through the mental health treatment system and especially through our children's educational system. It's insidious and because social media agendas (with billionaire funding and overreach), the agenda seeks to swamp us, including Christians. Or especially Christians. Remain silent, our inner voice suggests, prompted by a blanket of social media coverage - sothank you for starting this outreach on this platform.
I wish you success and courage.
Personally I pray often, seeking protection of Michael, the warrior archangel.
The wokeness creeping into treating mental disorders of this type has it backward. Instead of treating individuals with a condition, they have placed the problem on society at large. It absolves the individual of any responsibility to seek help. I don’t see how this helps those who need it.
I like, "I'm not responsible for your emotions." Yep, that's a keeper.
Johnny, this is a tonic. I'm glad there are still therapists with their heads screwed on straight.
Glad to be born into a language without grammatical gender. Not playing the pronoun game. Never will.

“Using preferred pronouns for many is normalizing a mental illness”. Yep. I always think that when I see the “pronouns”.
So well stated. Thank you!

All excellent truths. Here's another way to deal with pronouns: Don't use them!
Proper nouns are allways preferrable. If I were to speak of you, I'd say "Johnny" rather than "him."
In other wrods, don't even allow gender into the discussion. Simple.
Well said. Thank you!
